Harlow received the very cute Scamper and Sneaker coding critters pack. Scamper is the bigger cat and Sneaker is the little kitty. They're currently mummy cat and baby cat to Harlow. These playful kitten pets bring early STEM concepts to preschool learning through 100% screen-free coding. I thought this was amazing as the kids always seem to have their head in a phone, tablet or the TV so screen-free learning sounded great.
So what's included in the pet playset pack? Well you of course get Scamper and Sneaker, a slide for Sneaker, a butterfly toy for Scamper, a ball of yarn, a tree and cat climbing frame for decoration, a little cat house for Scamper, a fish for food, some coding paw prints and a brilliant coding storybook adventure!
The coding storybook is an absolutely genius idea. Kids can code along with their new pets, using the storybook to help the curious Scamper and sneaky Sneaker have a playtime they'll never forget. Each storybook coding challenge unfolds in the Coding Critters' fun pet playset. You've to code Scamper to play hide and seek, catch the butterfly at the end of her cat toy, or catch Sneaker after a ride down the slide. Harlow thought this was all fantastic and loved working her way through the storybook with her kitties.
In addition to following along with the storybook's coding challenges, you can also use the pet playset to design your own code games. The Coding Critters also double as cute interactive pets. You can press Scamper's nose to activate Play Mode. Harlow loved this as it allows you to feed, pet, and generally take care of the kitten robot pal. You can even make Scamper dance and sing a silly song!
We had a lot of success with our Coding Critters and it's a toy Harlow has gone back to again and again over the past month. There's 3 different coding critters to choose from; Scamper & Sneaker (cats), Rumble & Bumble (dinosaurs) and Ranger & Zip (dogs). They're aimed at ages 4-10 years and retail for £40. I'd highly recommend them as we've had hours of fun. Harlow has even managed to play with Scamper and Sneaker independently after I showed her a few times on how to use them.
Overall I'd highly recommend to friends and family. Such a lovely toy with hours of fun to be had. I would have loved one of these as a child myself. It's a great learning toy you just never get bored of. A perfect first coding robot pal.
I was sent this toy in return for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
