My Maternity Leave is Almost Over!

I can't quite believe that just over a year ago, before Christmas 2014, I was waving goodbye to my work colleagues and setting off to start my maternity leave. Harlow was then born on 9th January 2015 and it's been one roller coaster of a year, and some how here we are in 2016!! What the hell happened!? Did I fall asleep? Did I blink and miss like a whole year!? I really am struggling to know what happened to 2015. It seems as you get older time moves so quickly and before you know it another year has passed and the kids are getting bigger. Don't get me wrong there were lots of lovely things to come out of 2015, obviously Harlow being born for one but there were also some not so great things so here's hoping 2016 holds some good times for my little family.

The reality of the matter now is that I'll start back work in March, luckily part time, and even though my maternity leave is coming to an end I'm quite looking forward to seeing everyone's faces again at work. A little change of scenery for a few days, a chance to be Laura and not just Mummy. Sounds a bit selfish I know but every person needs a chance to have a little break and honestly I think work will be my break time if that can even make sense to anyone out there? At home I'm the number one go to person for anything: "Mummy! Can I have a snack?" "Huni! Did you see where I put my car keys?" "Waaaa waaa waaa (Harlow crying for the boob)". It just never ends and of course I love my family but Mummy needs a little break now and again too and sadly in 2015 I never really got that. Full time breastfeeding meant baby Harlow had to come everywhere with me and I don't regret it one bit, it's just been very tiring though. I think I really need to book in for a spa day pamper now that Harlow can be left with Daddy for a good few hours.

I'll need to start getting my butt into gear soon and hit the shops to buy some new work clothes as well. I've been fortunate enough to have lost the baby weight gained during pregnancy plus a good bit more which means none of my works trousers and tops really fit me anymore. I'm not great with fashion or even getting outfits together. I normally buy a few random pieces and hope they'll match. Not the best way to do things so I'd really like to get some help from someone who knows what they're doing and actually purchase outfits as a whole or key pieces that can be worn with different things or different ways. I must figure this out soon or I'll be back to work with baggy trousers and gaping tops, not a good look.

We've booked a couple of trips away as a family for March/April time which everyone is looking forward to. Logan asked and asked and asked, basically pleaded, to visit Legoland last year and we just never made it so we've booked up to go this year and he's very excited. So excited in fact he wants to go tomorrow! I'll have to do a count down or something to keep him focused. We've also booked to go away to Berriedale (which is at the top of Scotland almost) for a weekend. It's a cute little cottage that is owned by the Landmark Trust, it doesn't have wifi or a TV so it'll be proper family time that weekend. Lets hope we all survive without the gadgets. It'll be a fun experiment anyway.

Onwards and upwards as they say!

All your plans sound lovely. We've been thinking about legoland too as I think Holden would love it now.

I just went back to work yesterday after almost a year off. Thankfully we've got a trip booked to Disneyland Paris for Holden's 4th birthday at the start of Feb which is keeping me going just now!

Thank you, this year we're definitely going to go on more trips as the kids love it and it's good to get away from the front door.

Legoland is meant to be amazing, everyone I've spoken to can't recommend it enough so worth a visit at some point :)

It's painful going back isn't it, at least you've got Disneyland Paris to look forward to. I must look into that myself as I'm sure Logan would love it x
