Review: OXO Tots Feeding Range

The lovely people at OXO Tot have kindly sent Logan and I some feeding equipment to test and review. We were sent the training cup, fork and spoon set, training plate and snack dish. Here is what we thought of them.

Firstly I have to say that I love all the packaging for the OXO Tot Feeding Range. There is minimal plastic and mostly cardboard so a bit more environmetally friendly and it is so easy to open and get your item out as they have a handy little tab to pull, so much better than breaking your nails trying to open items trapped within plastic! Another great thing about the range is that it comes in three simple colours, green, aqua or orange so you  can colour co-ordinate if you wish and keep it fresh.

Training Cup
I love the idea of this cup but was a little scared to try it out as Logan can be a handful at meal times and tends to throw things and drinks every where. We gave it a go though and he took to it quite well, I only filled it up a little bit with water but he still turned it upside down and tipped the water all over him. I think when he's maybe a bit older and understands the concept then it will become easier to teach him. He did have a few sips though and I think he secretly felt quite proud of himself when I started clapping and saying "well done!". The training cup is also very very easy to clean, the lid screws off and the little bit in the middle of the lid that guides the water pops out and pops back in, just like that! It can also be put in the dishwasher (top rack only) if you are afraid of the sink and a sponge like me. There are little rubber gripes on either side of the training cup making it easy for baby to hold, even when wet. It also has a guide of ml and oz on either side so you can use which ever you prefer (up to 200ml or 7oz). The training cup is recommended for ages 12 months +. You can purchase the OXO Tot Training Cup for around £6.00 from places like John Lewis and Kiddicare.

Fork and Spoon Set
These are a very nice set and it's good to see that safety has been thought about and that the spoon and fork have been rounded so there are no sharp bits, not even round the edges like some children's cutlery! Perfect shape for little hands and the added rubber grip at the back of the fork and spoon are great so slipperly little fingers can hold on. Logan cannot use cutlery correctly yet but he does like to play with it and if I put food on the spoon he will try and feed himself. I really think he liked the spoon as it was very easy for him to hold and put in his mouth without any problems. He played with it for a good while and kept him busy so I could eat my dinner without it going cold, fantastic! Also Logan has had a good chew on the rubber grip and it has not been damaged at all which I am surprised at as he has quite a bite on him. These are also dishwasher safe in the top rack only. The fork and spoon set is recommended for ages 12 months +. You can purchase the OXO Tot Fork and Spoon set for around £6.00 from places like John Lewis and Kiddicare.

Training Plate
The training plate is quite big so you can fit plenty of food in there and there is plenty of space for your child to get their spoon in for a good helping. The ring around the plate helps children learn how to pick food up on a spoon or fork but Logan was too young to get the idea of this again and just wanted to tip it on his head. I testes it myself and it did stay still when I put some food on the spoon so the non-slip grip on the bottom does work. Plus the plate is weighted which will help. The ring around the plate can be removed as well for when your child gets older and bit more confident. It can be put in the dishwasher as well, just what we like to hear. The training plate is recommend for ages 6 months+. You can purchase the OXO Tot Training Plate for around £6.00 from places like JoJo Maman Bebe and Kiddicare.

Snack Dish
Great little invention this and even when Logan tips it on its side the food stays in! We tried it with raisins. They only fell out when Logan tipped it upside down which is what would happen with anything really. I like that it comes with a lid so you can take it out and about and give it to your child to keep them busy eating their snacks without worrying about them getting the snacks out of a packet or spilling them every where. This can be put in the dishwasher too, woohoo! You can purchase the snack dish for around £5.49 from http://www.safetots.co.uk/

Overall these are a great range of feeding equipment which I would happily recommend. They may be a little pricey however they are excellent quality and have withstood quite a bashing from Logan so they get the thumbs up from me.

Logan's rating - 10/10
Mummies rating - 8/10

This may sound daft but the packaging is great. It was so easy to get into the plate packaging and I didn't cut myself or require scissors. Why can't other companies make packing easy!
